Pelješac
Geographical position
The Pelješac Peninsula, the second biggest peninsula half way between Dubrovnik and Split, spreads on a surface of 355 km2 and is 65km long. It is connected to land by a narrow isthmus of Ston.
The territory of the Orebić Tourist Board spreads from Trstenik to Lovište and includes sandy and sunny beaches, a coastline which is low and well protected from bora winds, bathed in sun and much warmer than the northern side.
Pelješac has chalk limestone, dolomites and Eocene flysch in its composition. The highest peak is St Ilija (961m). The peninsula is hilly with karst fields and ground suitable for growing grape wine; the mountains are good for breeding top-class game.
Climate
TZ Orebić area belongs to the "adriatic type" of mediterranean climate, with long, calm, dry and warm summers with
clear days, and short, mild and damp winters and is among agreeable climatic zones of Mediterranean. Ari temperatures are
relativly high during the entire year. Yearly insolation is 2589 hours.
